What does SICS mean in INSTITUTES

SICS stands for Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences.

SICS' mission is to improve healthcare outcomes by conducting clinical and translational research, understanding the genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that contribute to individuals' health and wellbeing.

SICS is located at Biopolis — Singapore's biomedical research hub in one-north.

Research conducted at SICS includes clinical studies, as well as laboratory-based experiments on cells or tissue samples from human or animal sources. The institute also employs advanced analytical methods such as genomics, bioinformatics, imaging technologies and digital technologies (e.g., internet-connected devices).

In addition to researching new treatments, diagnostic tests or interventions that may have beneficial effects on public health in Singapore or beyond, the institute also contributes knowledge or resources to improve patient care directly through collaborations with clinicians in hospitals around the region.
