What does GGGT mean in UNCLASSIFIED

GGGT stands for Galactolipid Galactosyl Transferase. It is an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of galactose from a donor molecule (usually UDP-galactose) to an acceptor molecule, forming a glycolipid with a terminal galactose unit. In layman’s terms, GGGT helps build Glycolipids used in biological processes and other structures within a cell. These Glycolipids are important components of the outer membranes of many types of cells and involved in cellular recognition processes. GGGT enzymes also play key roles in maintaining normal levels of lipids and carbohydrates in cell membranes, as well as regulating interactions between different types of cells during development
